STRANGER THINGS

Stranger Things takes place in Agbogbloshie, Accra, one of the world’s largest electronic waste sites, where computers and obsolete technologies are burned and dismantled to recover their valuable metals. Nested within the surrounding market, the site forms a dense ecosystem of kiosks, workshops, and informal homes organized around the afterlife of Western consumer goods.

The video presents small drones wandering aimlessly over this alien landscape. The images bring the viewer into a dystopian terrain where remotely piloted aircraft anthropomorphize the scene. Moving slowly through the frame, they drift above fields of debris and smoke like mechanical birds passing through the ruins of the global digital economy.

Animals, machines, and discarded objects share the same ground. Within this damaged environment shaped by global consumption and technological obsolescence, the work observes a world where human and nonhuman lives briefly coexist within the same fragile ecology.
